I got this card yesterday, and already I think tomorrow may be its return to the store.
However, it could be a vast improvement for me if I could only get it to work under one last circumstance.
That is, running Half-Life in OpenGL mode on this card. Supposedly the card doesn't support any of the OpenGL modes, but that's crap. I know that's crap because one single instance exists where I was able to play and saw that I was getting a 60fps (on average) improvement over my old video card.
How I got it working once I can't seem to figure out and replicate, but anyone that could help, I'd appreciate it.

Installing the latest video drivers should give you open gl ability.

The vdrivers should do the trick. But I recomend that you take that card back to the store and buy a GeForce 4 ti4200. It is not DX9, but the FX5200 is too slow to play DX9 games anyhow. The ti4200 is better and there is a good chance that it is cheaper.

Yeah, exchanging for a better card had crossed my mind.
However, the one time that it worked, I got such an improvement...it's what is keeping the fire fueled.
I've got a couple of ideas to toy with still, but I bet it will come down to replacement. Thanks for the recommendation.

its just not a good card, although i would suggest you get one that does support dx9, rather than an older card. hl2 will just not run well on a gf4
