Monitor problem

My monitor has horizontal bars of discoloration running across it (unfortunatly, I can't take a screenshot. The bars of discoloration don't show up on screenshots). I am sure that this is a problem with the monitor, and not the computer as I hooked the monitor up to another computer and the monitor still had the bars. The problem remains even if I change the color type or resolution on the monitor. The monitor is an IBM G70.

try a lower refresh rate, and a degauss. the monitor might die soon though.

I tried both of those, but they didn't work.

try a different vga cable, and maybe clean some connectors with an eraser very carefully.
