*Can't delete file*

I've got a file in the "ready to be written to cd" folder that I cannot delete.
I'm using XP and I have tried to delete in safe mode and it brings up the same error.
"Cannot delete "" it is being used by another person or program.
I've checked the properties and I don't have any virus's.

Any help greatly appreciated!!!

What's the name of the file?

Posted by: miss_kat

It's called "The_sims_hot_date()" it was a zip file i downloaded from Kazaa. It had a virus, which I then deleleted using Norton. I was trying to burn the file to cd, during this process, the computer crashed. I ended up deleting the original file, now this is left.
Hope that's of more help

Try renaming file then delete.

Already tried that one as well! It just aint budging. The file is also in C:\my shared folder and is reading as 0k (original location of file before copying to file to be burned)

The plot thickens, but can it be solved?

if your drive is formatted in fat32, a dos boot will allow you to maually delete it. otherwise, removing it from the shared folder would be a good place to start.

piracy is a bad bad baaaaaaaad thing.

If you have quarantine with your Norton Antivirus, you should be able to delete it from there.

I got a Zsnes file i cant delete, it says:

Can not delete ZSNES: Access is denied

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use.

but my prob is that the file is on my C: drive not on a disk and it is not in usage, can any one help me out with this? And yes I have deleted my cookies, internet temp file and the windows temp folder and i have emptyed my recycle bin, and i have already tryed deleting it in dos, I tryed using dos prompt and restarting in dos mode to delete it and it still gives me the same msg.

Did you check in msconfig and see if there is any program that might be running and using this file? Look for a program that you do not recognize. Also run adaware and spybot to see if there are any spyware running on your computer.

I've had this problem at one time before. It let me move the files, rename and everything. What I ended up doing is cutting and pasting them onto a zip disk, and formatting it.

The quaratine bit of Norton let me delete the file - thankyou!!!!!
