I cannot afford a new AGP and a friend gave me a geforce2 mx 400 PCI card. How do I disable the AGP. I have an AWARD Flash BIOS v4.51
I am hoping for a quick response before I hang it up!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have an onboard video card or is it just an empty AGP slot?

I dont think the AGP video is onboard. I havent removed the AGP card from the slot yet. When I remove the AGP from the slot will I have to change the bios settings and or remove the drivers. If yes, how do I know which drivers to remove and which bios settings to change.

After digging out the mobo manual I found the Agp is onboard and the only option in bios is "inet first" -pci or agp.
Will I need to remove the AGP card?

In my experience there has always been a jumper setting that you had to change to disable the onboard video card. Then you should be able to simply install the PCI Video card in one of the pci slots and go. This should work for you. If your unsure about the jumper settings if you check the manual that came with the motherboard or check the manufacturer's website I am sure that is will be there.
Good Luck,

BULLFROG,
ILL LOOK FOR THE JUMPERS
THANKS!
PS Will I still need to set jumpers if I remove the agp card?

An onboard Video card is built into the motherboard and cannot physically be removed. If you just have a AGP card in the slot then that is not considered an onboard video card. You can just simply remove the video card in the agp slot and install the pci card. If it is not an onboard video card then there shouldn't be in any jumpers to change either.
Hope this helps!

That's when the confusion set in!
The mobo manual is calling it an onboard agp!

Are they refering to the AGP Slot itself or the whole video card? Did you try just removing the video card and installing the new one? That is really strange!

My best guess is that they are reffering to the slot.
The mobo pic shows just the slot and is calling it an
on onboard agp.
I think its time to remove the card from the agp slot and insert the pci card and see what happens.
Thanks again for your input.
