I received this error "memory parrity error detected system halted" in a blue screen. Upon boot up this error goes away. The sytem doesn't beep when it boots up so it didn't sound like a memory problem. I have 256 mb ram running windows 98. My computer boots up fine and I can use it for a while and then the error appears. I have researched and microsoft suggest I upgrade the driver for my vidoe adapter. Same error after the driver update. Is this really a memory issue?

Well the only way to find out is to swap in a new piece of memory, if the error doesn't happen then its clear that it was a memory issue.

I tried repacing the memory. The memory in the machine is pc 100 SDRAM. I replaced it with pc133 sdram same amount of ram but the machine wouldn't even boot up is that normal?

yes, thats normal.

Normal because your MOBO doesn't support PC133. I recommend getting some PC100 and test

Choices in order:
Bad memory
Bad motherboard
Bad CPU < 2%

Bad CPU is highly unlikey, I'd go with memory/videocard/motherboard

I downloaded and installed the latest video driver. So far i have only got the error once. I will replace the memory
