LCD screen colour

A couple of years ago i bought a really old laptop computer, just to stuff around on and play with.
Its a Toshiba 3300SL and it has a black and white LCD screen.
Since the computer is third or even fourth hand, i havent got any documents or manuals with it.
My problem is that the screen is set to display the colour (well, black and white) in reverse. Apparently this is best for older LCD screens, however i would like to change it back. The only reference to this on the PC is to "consult my owners manual" which i dont have.
Does anyone have any idea how to do this? As i dont.
