(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: rockshalton

For Windows 98, 98se, ME

Question: What do I do, I lost the serial number to a software program and I can't install it.

Answer: Start-Run- (type) regedit - (select) HKEY_MACHINE_LOCAL-( select) SOFTWARE- (look for name of manufacturer...i.e. Nero is Ahead- (select) AHEAD (Select name of program...Nero is Nero Burning Rom- The serial number is in the INFO folder of the name of your burner software.

You will be able to retrieve product id's & serial numbers using regedit. The locations will vary somewhat, but you will be able to easily retrieve them as long as you didn't format the os drive.
