Stick-on Mouse Surface?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello, one and all!

I picked-up this funky-looking mousepad on eBay:

Multi-function Mousepad on eBay

It works nicely with my Optical Mouse, with one exception - right in the middle of the printed graphics on the pad is a fairly white area that the mouse's optics are totally unable to track on, and my mouse-pointer goes wild.

What I'm looking for is something of a stick-on, durable surface that I can overlay over the existing pad & graphics work so I get a fairly uniform, optical-friendly surface. Searching the Web for such items is making me call "no joy" on this, and this multi-function mousepad is just too funky to toss - and no, I'm not switching-back to a ball-mouse.

Thanks!

ScottK

leet mousepad

almost anything will do. fabric or felt come to mind. just need scissors and rubber cement or roll on glue. you really dont need a mousepad for an optical, you can always get some paper and use it.

Is an Optical Mouse going to track well on FELT??

I also guess that any basic contact paper from an Office Supply store is going to work "ok", but a more durable & smooth surface is what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the input!

why not, optical works fine on a denim covered leg :P

as long as it has some texture to it, you can use about anything. just avoid shiny. hit a fabric store and find the remnant section. should be able to find something appropriate.

yeah readwench is right. i have pretty much nothing but optical mice and the best i can say is dont even bother with a mouse pad. they dont need it. unless it has a real messed up surface, any desk/table/counter/uncarpeted floor will do fine.
