(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

sorry didnt know where to post this...
you know i just watched the old LA3 movie, and i must say that brings back alot of old memories. Damn, that was a hell of a good time. I havent been hanging out in OTS in a long time, and i miss it; especially after watching that. Seeing all the old regs that i know, and the dinner, and the lan, and BBQ... Almost btought a tear to my eye ;P

sorry for my stupidity, but LA3?
Posted by: Gerbilo
c'mon pepsi! now you gotta explain, thru the tears!!
Ahhh... I wish i could have made that event, I think it only got me into a fight with RS though

I guess I should have added "what is" before LA3.
So what is LA3? That forum post just made me for confused.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
LA3 was a fairly large gathering of people in Los Angeles more than 2 years ago ... the people are made up of friends and members who have met on Battle.Net's OTS channel and through this site, as well as members of two "clans", The Usual Suspects and The Group. It's a lot like Blog Meetups where online friends meet each other in the flesh.
The gathering took place almost 2 years ago during the E3 convention, and lasted approximately 3 days, of which highlights included a big dinner at Jerry's Famous Deli and capped off by an all-nighter LAN party.
LA3 was the third (and biggest) gathering of people which began as just a casual meetup of a handful of people from an exclusive gaming group, which first took place more than 5 years ago. I think the number of people who attended LA3 was close to 30 (including the guests), if I'm not mistaken.
It was also the gathering where we first wore our official OTS shirts

Easily considered the best and most memorable gathering to some, not only because of the number of people who attended, but because almost everyone was still in good terms back then
Here are a few topics about it - mostly for those who have a healthy bit of nostalgia

well gerb i guess u just had to be there. after all the amazing events that occured, and not really putting much thought into it after so long accept the occasional mention to other people who attended; then watching the cd(movie), it just gives u that lump in your throte. it was amazing, and back then i was really attached to ots and tg. i havent been in a few years, and it makes me feel bad now...
some of the people i havent even talked to since then. I dont know about all the "on good terms" thing, but i had the time of my life. i wish we could put another one of those together. i dont care if it was on the other side of the world, id go. shoot people did come from the other side of the world for thatone almost.
the dinner was awesome and the lan(where some severe spanking went on), was killer. the bbq was sweet. the whole experience was just Legendary!
compukeith this was way b4 your time on OTS =).

Hmmm....
Why does it state that I have no permission to view those threads....Laggy, am I still barred full access to your site?
Oh, and US is not a clan.

??? noone said it was...

Pepsi-man, at that time, I was still in high school and know nothing of ASP, IIS, or scripting. Ah, the simple life.
Sounds like it was a ton of fun. Thanks to Laggy for explaining it. I remember seeing an old post with that pic in it. (maybe it was one of Laggy's pics in the Gallery??).
Posted by: Pepsi-Man[OTS]
nah it was on one of the threads from years ago. maybe in the archives. i know its from the movie =)

You remember it from the recent Random Image Thread.

ah - ic.
Posted by: Chako
Well, actually Pepsi, you should re-read Laggy's input once again. Then re-evaluate your comment. He did state it was a "clan", which it never was.....
Regardless....so Laggy, am I still banned from viewing the full content of this site excluding those areas where I have no rights like everyone else such as the moderator forums etc....? Is there a rant and raves section or is that gone now as well?
The old times are dead. Several on this site ensured that a long time ago.

He defined both groups as "clans," and do take note of the quotes. What better way to describe an online gaming oriented organization of people who sit around in Battle.net? This is what we call "lack of a better term," since TG and US pretty much have all the characteristics of a CLAN.

Perhaps personal questions are better left to private messages or an email?

get over it. the Suspects were as much a Clan as anything else. One of the first on Battlenet. It was a good outlet for the OTS Battlenet folks to let off steam after dealing with the same questions day after day. This was back when if you had a 1000 gamers on in a nite it was an event. The Usual Suspects were founded by Ravenstorm. They met nightly in a channel other than OTS because it started going downhill after Starcraft. Then it was on to other games. great bunch of people. At the time I complained that once we got organized it was all over. Both TG and US offered up the best and worst groupings of internet misfits I have ever been privy too. My life has been enriched by far from association with TG and US. A Cheese Puff Fizzie Toast to the memory of that golden age.

Ahhh I remember that. How I wanted to go so badly, but only being 15-16 at the time and having school it was no way possible.
Laggy who is in that picture? I think I know who some of them are.
Posted by: Chako
Well, I never viewed it as a clan...and it didn't follow clannish tendencies. Otherwise, I would have never been a member....
As for that being a personal question...I beg to differ.
Anyhow, to argue the point is rather childish....believe in what you wish, its no skin off my teeth.
But I am quite content, I can now view those archived files...thanks Laggy (if it was something on your part).

care to voice it?
Didn't think so.

I can't in a way that would derail the thread/get this deleted. That, and I certainly wouldn't want to drive you into posting another "omfg i'm out of here" thread.
Lets just say I thought it was funny that you said how childish arguing is, but here you are making a big deal out of someone calling US a clan. Not every bit of text you read is an assignment for you to correct.
Posted by: Chako
What, stating the obvious amuses you? I considered myself childish in arguing about it, and have noted the fact, with an admissible that you can believe what you want, it won’t change my mind on the matter, nor will it change yours…so yes, arguing about something as stupid as that IS childish.
However, I find your troubles most intriguing. Care to PM me with your feelings so that I may better understand them?
You won't have to worry about my posting another OMFG, I am out of here thread. I only do that when I care about a site, and am protesting. My caring for this site is not like it used to be, and feel no more attachment to it. If I decide to leave, it will be quietly and tactfully.

I don't know what troubles you're talking about but okay
Posted by: Chako
Well you stated that you couldn't or the thread would get deleted. This tells me that there is some sort of antagonistic feelings towards myself, or it is what I may represent...I haven't a clue.
I was just extending an offer to talk about it amicably via PM.
Cheers.

lol
You take simple ideas and overanalyze them, then make a big deal about it. I don't even know what your last few posts even mean, all I said is that I thought it was funny that you took offense to US being called a clan, and how you want to have a deep conversation via PMs about feelings... haha.

(in case anybody was wondering why there hasn't been a gathering since then)
Posted by: Chako
Well I guess I was presuming some semblance of intelligence in understanding post..but I guess I misjudged you as you so readily misjudged me.
Gunslinger...you are correct.

sad, but true...
Pepsi - like you, I miss those times when everyone still welcomed each other with open arms
Chako - I would appreciate it if you put into private messages whatever small grievances you may (still) have against me or the site (I appreciate the last one you sent, although you made sure to post the essence of it in public first - that has always been our problem ).
9:35 - good points, but nevertheless, don't feed the fire being started by contributing your own.
Laborat - you nailed it down as usual (pardon the pun).
I did put quotation marks on "clan" since I did not know a better word aside from "exclusive gaming group", which I also used further down that post. I don't see what the big deal is - both US and TG exhibit clan behavior but aren't officially clans (except maybe TG, which has accepted the monicker). When explaining something to someone like compukeith who is essentially a newcomer compared to most of us, it is always good to explain in the simplest possible terms so it won't occupy an unnecessary amount of space and risk going overly historical. Explaining how "a group that behaves like a clan, looks like a clan and organizes exclusive events like a clan is actually NOT a clan" would be tedious.
If being called a clan is an affront to US, then I apologize profusely.
Anyway, let me remind people that this topic is started by Pepsi to relive the old days where everyone was friends and did not take sides. Don't spoil it for him. Or me.
Posted by: Chako
What? I wasn't even aware sides were being taken.
I didn't know I had grievences, I just asked if I had full access to the site. Didn't know this was some big secret.
Furethermore, 9:35 is laughing at something, and I don't like being made fun of, especially when I don't know the punch line.
Laggy, once again..nice backup there buddy. Thus was ever your problem.

Well.. I missed out on this.. before I got to the forums.. and since I don't play Blizzard games.. I had no idea a site like this existed.. since being shown here by Uh..Ok from Fr3nsyc.net I have seen the site change.. although to some not for the better I firmly belive that the site has grown and changed with the times and the community..
Anytime you have a gathering like that it's hard to top.. Fr3nsyc does one every year.... err well we have for the past 2.. and it's always a great time.. alot of gaming.. alot of fun.. and some interesting characters.. Heck I totaled a truck last year and 3 days later was sitting in a chair in L.A. Playing BF1942.. because I wouldn't miss that for anything.
So.. when's the next one... and where can I see the video of the last one??

Who is everyone in that shot. I know Laggy is the one in the middle and I'm pretty sure thats Spider on the far right.

To answer Bobaroo's and Tecil's question, from left to right, that's Ravenstorm, Talamage, Lito, Cetort and myself in the picture.
That was a hell of a lot of fun that year. "LA4" was fun as well. We should get together and do it again.
Posted by: Xoncide
+laggy in the middle.
Are the ots shirts still for sale?
Posted by: Gunslinger
Getting together again would be good.
Posted by: 9:35
Those shirts? I doubt it. Wearing a shirt with the word 'bomb' in public will get you detained for life.

laggy = lito
soz
Posted by: uh...ok
I still laugh at that picture everytime I see it because it looks like everyone (with maybe the exception of Spider) is peeing on the display.
Posted by: Tecil
I'm sure there are quite a few people out there that wouldn't mind taking a leak on a copy of Diablo II in front of some Blizzard Reps.

u guys should be ashamed of yourselves! here i start a nice thread of good memories and good fun and good friends and i read all this childish arguing :P lol
