OTS and Blizzard

I was just wondering what the relationship btw OTS and Blizzard was. How come OTS has a channel in Blizzard games ( eg Starcraft).

The relationship is a nebulous one and is still being studied by greater minds than ours. OTS on Battlenet is completely different than OTS.net (this site). OTS on Battlenet started out as a tech help channel for gamers by other gamers. The Blizz Techies were all off beta testing Starcraft. When you could get a Blizz Tech you got two answers which are still being used on newbies to this day..."You need to reboot your system after changing the color screen to 640 x...", and "(your name) was banned for improper use of the Queen's English."

This erratic behavior on the part of Blizzard brass who were secretly fending of hostile takeover bids from the Koreans who wanted Starcraft and were probably going to sell Blizzard's Diablo to Broderbund as a backup to their (Broderbund) famous series Mavis Beacon teaches typing, led to several outstanding tech help sites starting up elsewhere --among them Helper.net and TG.org and Opentechsupport.net.

None of the above mentioned sites claims to be an official site of Blizzard nor would they want to. It is true that several times those same sites mentioned above have been sent traffic the Blizz Techies either didn't want or who asked questions the Blizz Techies didn't know. Several of the moderators on this Site have done time in OTS on Battlenet, including me. This was back when "What's My Ping?" and "Is there a secret Cow Channel?" were among most frequent questions asked. As an aside factoid, the most popular question asked today is, "Why is Battlenet down?" and "Somebody Stole My CD key can you get it back?".
I hope this clears up any confusion you might have over what the role of OTS is on Battlenet. While it is true that the channel is populated now by tech-like sadists and Blizz posers who enjoy torturing newbies with bizarre answers to their questions, every now and then if you hang out long enough and manage not to get pinged off of battlenet by some cyber terrorist with the latest hack ware, you might come across a kernal of truth about something that may or may not be relevant now but some day it will all make sense.

Excellent explanation Labby

Anyway, all the info on OTS.Net's relationship (or lack thereof) to Blizzard can be read from the section entitled About Our Site...

Dammit Labo, you just reminded me of how little time I've actually served in OTS.
