So now what am I supposed to do?

I checked again, to see if maybe god did send a decent christmas present to me after all.. Of course he still hates me, as does that pinnacle beast called santa claus. If I ever see him, he's one dead claus, and might I add, it won't be pretty. :P

Anyways after viewing the attached image, tell me what I'm supposed to do with this? Just remember last year, comcast did buy our local cable area from AT&T, who sold it during the "stock market scare" or whatever you want to call it. Anyways, I can get Digital Premier for $51 a month? No.. not yet available.. hell they do even have the ability to sign me up for BASIC cable services online.. but it's not available in my area, so I have to "call them". My god what will I ever do. I'm not available for anything on thier website.. someone shoot me, or the heads of comcast in the Pittsburgh area.

Get Dish Network. The cable service in my area has been 2things for many years: total horse crap quality and expensive. Since comcast aquired it, nothign has changed. Digital cable LOOKS WORSE than analog, that boggles my mind. And we maybe 40 channels for analog, its always been like that. None of the really good channels either, like comedy central, meanwhile a town 30 mins away has over 55 channels on their analog. Including comedy central.

Go check out dish networks website, they always have some kind of deal running. Im planning to switch to them with in the coming month. I believe their deal right now is free installation + all free equipment. You can get a dish with 3 LNB and 3 receivers for $49, then they give you a $50 credit on your first bill. One of the receivers can be a PVR unit as well.

SKYHN, lol. I'm sorry you didn't get the point in my post. We have no cable service here. I was refering mainly to broadband. And our local analog cable was/is total crap. 40 bucks for 33 channels of CRAP. Poor signal quality, and no good channels. That's extremely a ripoff. 40 bucks a month is what the average person spends for digital cable service with hundreds of channels. Anyways, I have DirecTV, which works fine for me I just want broadband

Hmmm....

Have you looked into WiFi or Satelite internet in your area?

Posted by: The-AoD

I've looked at every possible answer. Sat internet is a downfall since... well the latency isn't for me and playing anything online. As for WiFi, haven't heard of that, so it's probably not available here... hehe

And Spider.. I have the new gerbildrive 9600 now :P

YOu might want to check the local ISPs for wireless internet. I work for CSInet in LaPorte, IN (www.csinet.net) and we have wireless internet for the surounding area and we're adding more towers now.

The speed on that, at least with us, is much better than DSL for the same price (we charge $39.95/month).

Just an FYI

Ouch... lol Wireless... Ok the chance of getting a signal here with a cell phone is totally nill, so I guess there's another idea down the drain. But I won't let that stop me, ohh no.. I'll at least investigate some Thanks keith

Hello

A lot of my friends have cable internet, but with there cable at 600k or 150k, it is very slow to get web pages up they can take anything from 6 seconds to 30 seconds, plus you can only download 1 gig of data a day, Also if you watch any 300k or 350k videos over the 600k cable network, then that is jerky pictures and may not work altogether.

This is my broadband connection now

I use ADSL, this works down your existing telephone line and on my internet service i have no download restriction, i have downloaded some days as much as 4 gig of data, and my connection is at 512k, and any 300k and 350k videos play perfectly, and any web pages come up within a couple of seconds and 6 seconds or longer like on cable broadband, and before you ask, I compared my connection ADSL 512k to my friends connection which is Fibre Optic 600k connection.

So i would recommend here that you look for an internet company that uses your existing telephone, also when you are online you can still get telephone calls through this ADSL service, i like it.

I am suggesting this but don't know if this type of network is available in your country and also this type of ADSL network can run at 2 meg speeds, and they are starting trials soon with the 3 meg service using this type of network.

Regards

Andrew

That really depends on the location, the provider, and several other things. I have a cable connection and my sites load just as fast as with any other broadband connection, and I know I can download way more than 1gb per day.

DSL services are not available around here either, but thanks for the effort lol. Like I said, I've tried everything so far. And as for the wireless, after looking around, there are no providers of Wireless internet services around here yet... but they are trying to upgrade thier vast user area. Just not here... lol

If your out in a remote area, you probably wont ever see DSL access. Maybe in 3 or 4 years when Fibre is available, they would run a line to your house, but probably with you paying for the whole thing as well.

Put in your information on this site in the find service section: http://www.dslreports.com

There might be something that you can get that your unaware of.

Like Outlaw said.

I have a 1MB cable connection and I have no problems with speed, latency, or download limits.
