(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ive been having display problems in both starcraft, halflif,e and occasionally war 3

It happens the most in halflife (single and multi) Ill be pplaying just fine, and ill get this red flash like something in the background is trying to run ( nothing is) and then all my textures get ****ed up, and i cant see text. Could it be my exxesivly old moniter? or my retard graphics card

win xp
atholen 1700
486 ram
dsl internet..
delta da-570 on s3 graphics prosavage ddr
newest drivers

on a wierd side note, i can "retexture" the messed up walls and stuff with my flashlight, so its not that they stay screwed up, but once it seems to think i have really reatarrded textures

Do you think your card may be overheating?
I've experienced graphics corruption before when a card overheated
or was overclocked.

sounds like heat death to me

If you're having erroneous erros like that, as gmacky and ed said, it's probably a heat issue. Make absolute sure that you have the latest drivers for your video and sound cards. Also, it may be that you installed a newer version of direct X and your card simply doesn't support it correctly. It could be a ton of things.

As for your monitor, it is possible to have "wierd" things happen because of age, but the chance is very slim. If anything I'd check your card for heat first. Does it have a heatsink and fan? If so is the fan working properly? Is the card "covered" in dust? Did this happen in the past? What changes did you make before this started happening?

Sorry, just trying to get as much information as possible to help you narrow down the problem.

As for changes.... istalled steam. I kinda doubt the heat issue, but it is possible i guess, my basment is pretty cold ill look into it. Whould it still keep playing the game?

definityl not heat, after running it for all of 3 minutes, with NO SIDE PANEL, did the same thing

Well, if it's not heat death (an uninsulated room during winter makes for great cooling), it is most likely a software/driver/retardedgraphicscardnotsupportingnewfeatures problem. Try downloading the latest driver for your card (I'm surprised nobody said this already).
