Hi,

I just recently got DSL from SBC. I have a laptop that I want to connect to my DSL connection. The DSL connection is currently connected to my desktop using a ASDL modem SBC provided. I was wondering how I go about connecting the Laptop. The laptop does not have a nic card but has the slot for it. I do not want a wireless network just straight connectin so laptap can enjoy DSL speed. Do I just buy a router and nic card? Please help. Thanks

Yeah, if you just buy a router it should work OK, just make sure to have the router set to DHCP so that it'll hand out IPs to your desktop and laptop. If you don't want to be tied to one place, you might want to consider going with a wireless access point/router combo.

I personally have a Microsoft MN500 Wireless access point with a 4 port router built in. It seems to be working pretty good for me, but it's only 802.11b, so i'll be buying a 802.11g access point next.

Hope that helps.
