My sound has always worked but a few days ago I tried to open up winamp and listen to some music but it wasnt working. I havent been able to figure out why. I have checked my sound settings on under Accessories->Entertainment->Volume control. Only Video and Line-in were muted. I have Intel 82801AA (integrated) sound, and I am running XP Pro. I have tried multiple speakers to see if that was the problem and that wasnt it either. Please help.

Hmmm, winamp seems to be the cause of this So if you can why not just use music jukebox? Worth a shot if it means your sound wont die on you....

Go to start, Run, and type in dxdiag to open the Direct X Diagnostic tool. Run the tests available in Sound 1, Sound 2 and Music.
But it may just be your speakers/headphones are busted. Try jacking them into something else (A stereo, walkman, whatever).

Do you have a sound card or onboard sound?

I went into DirectX and went under the music tab. There is a list of ports I can test. I was able to get sound out of the Microsoft MIDI Mapper [Emulated] and Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth [emulated]. None of the others worked. Then I went into Control Panel and looked at my sound levels and noticed my Wave all the way at the bottom. That was the problem. Thanks alot!

Methinks that that's how winamp controls its volume.
