error deleting file or folder

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I downloaded a file from winmx as a music file and now I can't get it to delete or move to a different file or anything. The error comes up as "Cannot delete file: file name you specified is invald or too long."
I tried deleting it in safe mode but that didn't work either. Any other suggestions on how to get rid of it would be nice. Thank you in advance.

DOS. Use wildcards.

C:\> del beginingofname*.*

I am not really that great with computers so can you please explain what you mean by wildcards and and how to use them.

did you try changing the name?

I tried to change the name and it gave me the same error. It is actually a shortcut file that i can't get rid of. I have changed the target many times and when i use moveonboot or del the shortcut another way it just deletes the target and leave the shortcut alone.
