Best voice acting in a V game

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I vote Starcraft, the voice acting is great esp the Protoss voice actors. Second Max Payne 1 & 2

Posted by: Canis Lupus

For me, Jon Irenicus in Baldur's Gate II, voiced by David Warner, wins hands down

Posted by: Null Actor

David Hayter in MGS 1 and 2.

Posted by: SKYHN

Ray Liotta in Vice City.

Same here, but the Garrett from thief was good too

The cast of RE1 for PS1.

j/k

Tidus from FFX is the only one I can think of. Most of the other games I have on all platforms don't have the greatest of actors. Tidus has his moments.

Yep, RE3 was so bad i had to duck my head in embarrasment ant time they talked, esp that carlos guy. Jill wasnt bad and the russian guy too.

Posted by: SpecOpsHoov

Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell.

Not sure who did his voice.

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

The "director" in Manhunt is pretty sinister. He sounds like Luigi from GTA3, but I can't be sure. Might be a different GTA 3 or VC char, but since it's a Rockstar game, it has to be one of em

Knights of the old Republic and Metal Gear Solid

Posted by: Outlaw

Garrett in the Thief series.

Posted by: AltronHGX

Kain (Simon Templeman) and Raziel (Michael Bell) from the Legacy of Kain series.

edit: ADA (Cynthia Marcucci) from the ZOE games.

I just found out that the person who does the voice of Ken Marinaris from ZOE2 does the voice of Ivy in Soul Calibur. Oh man, the resemblance is so apparent now
Also the guy that plays Nohman in the ZOE games did the voice for someone named Kinock in FFX...who the **** is that?

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

Man i forgot about Soul Reaver. That game had great voice acting.

yep! i vote for that one too. they were too good that i think they surpassed the actors who played in the movie! too bad!

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

Re was still the best game-based movie i've seen. Re 1 acting waqs good but not as good as the movie though (at least not to me)

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

actually...i was being sarcastic when I said RE1

They were pretty horrible, but the Gamecube version was alright. RE1 for PS1 is still my favorite RE game, though.

I liked the voice acting for RE0

Kinoc is Grand Maester Mika's little attendant, type of guy. I'm only going to naturally assume that you've played the game, but your right, it is fairly easy to miss him. He gets killed by Auron, I believe. He was also one of the main coridinators of the disastorous Operation Mi'hen. He is shorter, fat, and bald. When you first meet him, he greets Auron like an old friend. Um, I think I got it all, if I forgot something, or if any of this is wrong, it's because I'm just working from memory here. Oh well, hope that helps

OH, i dont really like that game so i've never really played it.

Posted by: SpecOpsHoov

I've always wanted to play it.

RE: Code Veronica for PS2, itz been awhile since I played it, but I think it had good voice acting. (If you want to see some wierd voice acting rent SH3, thier acting is O.K., but the mouth movement when the speak are hilarious)

Posted by: 9:35

I don't know about good voice acting, but I can tell you that Soul Calibur 2 has some of the weakest lines and voice actors I have ever encountered. For a game this innovative and advanced in this generation of fighting games, it surprises me the couldn't have a decent verbal side too.

Posted by: AltronHGX

I disagree. I found the corny lines such as "Long ago, his master gave him his sword so he could cut his own path." before every fight very funny and fitting.

Umm, i think you think it has poor voice acting because of the english voice overs. If u listen to it in Japanese then it sounds simply cool. Like when Nightmare says "My sword give me strength", it sounds great in japanese but bad in english. I jsut trun off the english voice overs. Astaroth saying " Get Lost" in english is simply too corny But in japanese its nice

Posted by: 9:35

Astaroth only says those short stupid things because he's only consciously lived two of his seven years as a golem specifically designed to kill everything in sight, not dazzle and charm with deep, insightful thoughts.

I do not contend your claim of how excited Japanese people might get from a magically crafted beast of destruction spewing crude insults after battle.

You are perhaps one of seven current Soul Calibur 2 players who don't rapidly press the start button to get right to the fight. I don't care to hear how my character's shoes were blessed by the elder council of Negative Jupiter when it has no impact in gameplay. I mean, if I lose (lol how do i do that) it's not like i'll think "well, at least I got those cool shoes!"

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

Everyone picked up on the fact that my sarcasm for RE1 was saying that they were good. In reality, the voice acting for RE1 sucked on PS1. Just wanna clear that up.

Barry: "What is this?"
Wesker: "Wow! What a mansion!"
Jill: "Captain Wesker, where's Chris?" (wesker shrugs)
Wesker: "Stop it! Don't open that door!"
Jill: "But Chris is!....." (Gun fires"
Barry: "What is it?"
Wesker: "Maybe...it's...Chris? Now Jill, can you go?"
Barry: "I'm going with you. Chris is our old partner, you know!"
Wesker: "Okay, let me handle this. Stay alert!"

It was just done so horribly.

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

Umm 9:35What exactly do u not like about the voive acting in SC 2. Is it the English voice overs or the actual content of what is being said?

RE: Code V has had the best voice acting in a RE game to date

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

I do like the voice acting for Code Veronica. I just wish they would've given the original voice for Wesker some acting lessons and brought him back. The new Chris didn't bother me too much. Am I right when I say Claire in RECV is the same as Claire in RE2?

Yup, the claires are the same. I thought the worst was that steve guy, jeez that dude annoyed me so much i was kinda glad when he died. Plus how did capcom expect us to know that Tyrant Steve was invincible. I wasted so much time and ammo on him, i wanted to eat the CD after a while )

Posted by: covenantazkiker

Bruce Campbell as the wisecracking voice of Ash in the video game(s) Evil Dead Hail To The King and Fistfull of Broomstick.

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

The movies were so great

Posted by: AltronHGX

Hey where'd my post go? I didn't think my reply was rude or broke any rules... Hay guys, you've heard the Resident Evil voice mix thing right? It's like 6 years old and it's still one of the greatest private achievements on teh interweb

it was the catalyst for an offtopic discussion that was both silly and unnecessary ... if you wanna state your own opinion, do so, not just quote someone else and leave it at that...

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

Hmm, Canis is too strict . Anyways i havent heard the resident evil mix. Where can i get it.

uhm.. are you referring to the Evil Dead Trilogy movies? I wasnt able to watch the first two though (i'm still looking for videos for rent buts not that lucky). But the third (a.k.a"Army of Darkness" was both funny and scary although the effects were a bit cheap) Bruce is really great who can deliver those funny and memorable one-liner dialog. i can watch the movie everytime it was shown on cable and not grew tired of it. Oops! i hope mr. laggy would not take this as off-topic, silly and unnecessary.

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

Ywah i'm talking about the Trilogy. Evil Dead, Dead at Dawn adn Army of Darkness. Those were the first horro movies that truly scared me. But we digress, the video games tried to use the one-liners but the effect wasnt that good. They just ended up sounding cheesy ( surprising considering that the voice for Ash was the real actor in the movies).

I hated trying to outrun Steve. The first time I did that, I ended up dying and forgot to save, so I slammed the CD against the wall. Good thing CD's are resiliant objects! I didn't mind Mr. Burnside too much. I didn't like Sherry in RE2. My name just happens to be Steve, and my cousin's name is Sherry. I think Capcom has been stalking me since 1998.....

edit: Not to mention one of my good friends was named Chris, my g/f wants to name her first born daughter Claire, and I worked with a guy named Barry.

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

o...k you're kidding right

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

well, actually I'm serious, all except the capcom stalking me part. I know it's just coincidence.
