Canon s400 printer problem

I have recieved some type of reset to my printer, it is driving me nuts. When i turn the printer on the windows setup wizard only recognises the printer as model bjf360. Therefore the printer driver will not work properly.I have tried different computers, drivers to no avail. Is there a way to update the firmware to resolve this issue.

Have you tried reinstalling the driver ?
NB. Canon USB drivers can be fussy about the install sequence. Check the 'readme' (I expect it says something like "Do not plug in the printer - start the install with the printer unplugged. When the installed asks you to reset your PC, powerdown, plug in the printer and power up again. The second part of the install will run after the computer powers up").

What OS are you running? Is it USB or parallel?
I have a Canon S820 and when installing a new
printer I sometimes get bogus printer drivers
showing up just like you. All I do is install the
new driver and delete the bogus one and everything
is fine.
Are you following the installation procedures properly?
Some installations are finicky about the procedure and
must be followed precicely.
ex. turn printer off, run installation, at prompt turn printer
back on, driver detects the printer and finishes installation.
Different printers use different procedures.
