I have a coupla questions that some of you might have the answer to. My Flash Drive is a PNY Attache 256MB Drive.
1)On my desktop if I have my flash drive plugged in, XP Pro will not detect my drive initially. I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to work. My mobo is an MSI KT4V with the VIA chipset, I have close to the newest drivers for it, there might be some new ones I can pick up if necessary. It's wierd that it wont recognize it. My mobo has 6 USB 2.0 ports in the back. The only other devices I have plugged in are my Optical Intellimouse and my 250MB Zip Drive. The Zip drive is recognized fine. Also the flash drive does get full speed transfer. Mayhaps it's a bios setting?
2)On my Notebook. I have a Toshiba M35 (I cant remember the second half of the model). It's a Centrino Notebook and it has 3 USB 2.0 ports and it's running XP Home. This problem isnt too big of a deal, but I was wondering if anyone new how to fix it. If I have my drive plugged in before I turn on my notebook, or if it's plugged in on a reboot, it the boot process will hang while it's plugged in, but once I remove it, it works fine. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help if you know.

In response to the first question, this does occasionaly happen. Try opening the System Control panel and going into the Device manager. Remove (uninstall) the USB drive, then plug it back in.
In response to the second question, I had the same problem. The problem is that since your BIOS supports booting off of a USB device, it's trying to look for a boot record on that device. Try going into the BIOS and altering the boot order to first boot from the HDD.
