yahoo chat rooms

when i'm in chat room , what i type cannot be viewed by other roommates. also, when they im me my response cannot be viewed (they type," r u there"?) my mic is the only way i can communicate in chat room. i can't im someone or view their web cam , or add to buddy list. computer keeps performing illegal action and closing down. what's the deal with yahoo chat?
