XP Startup Problem

can anyone please tell me whats wrong with my computer...It takes around 5 minutes to start up Xp now...My computer was able to start up in less than a few seconds. Besides that, this also happens when i try to load other programs. HELP!!

I have this same problem too. I don't know what's causing it. You might find some useful information under the "XP Booting Problem" thread by me. If you find a solution, let me know.

That happened to me a long time ago. The only way around it was a fresh format... I had high suspicions about it being the CD drive. Is there anything you have done that could have caused this? What was the last thing you did before this happened?
