Made New Pc - BIOS Having problems. Help!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I start up my computer. I got everything installed and XP works great. My brand new homemade computer works. One problem, my bootup is stalled by about 15 seconds with this message: "No drive attached to the Fastrak controller. No bios is installed."
I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this. I have tryed to flash it from windows XP using the sofware that came with the motherboard but to no avail. Please get back to me ASAP

What kind of MOBO do you have?

Since no drives are attached to your FastTrak controller (which I assume is a sata or raid controller), you can disable it to get rid of the delay. It should be listed somewhere in the bios.

Well Heres the thing: I have a ASUS motherboard. I can get into the BIOS but because I am just a gamer and don't know jack about BIOS's and XP (Only how to use them) Could someone list what I should do? Oh also my floppy drive is out of commision because... well I don't know why but the floppy won't go down into the drive. It'll only sit in it.

By the way I have no clue what a MOBO is.

Mobo is short for motherboard.

When you're in the bios, you should look for something that says "FastTrak controller" or something similar, and disable it. However, if you're not entirely sure what you're doing in there, it's better to have someone else (with more experience) do it, or just leave it as it is. After all, 15 seconds isn't gonna kill you.

I have gotten into the BIOS before. I'll do that. The thing is I really do know what I am doing but I am not up to all the new stuff cause I used to operate off of my 1995 micron that I kept on souping up. Never delt with this kind of problem or this kind of motherboard either. Thanks for the help.

What is the model of your motherboard?

P4C800 Deluxe

Well, I couldn't find anything to help you. Sorry. I even went to my dad's comp (He has an asus p4s8x that gives him the same message) and couldn't find anything in his bios on how to turn it off (that's not to say it wan't there, just couldn't see anything). Have you contacted Asus support about it?

Posted by: Tomtheman70

Psh. Contact ASUS? I always contact customer support as a last resort. I always get a computer. The only person I have ever gotten and person was when I actived my Direct TV TIVO. Well I'll try that. Doubt I'll get any results though.

Well I tryed to contact them but ended up waiting on hold for 15 minutes. It is 9 PM they shouldn't be to jam packed! God! This makes me mad.

I know exactly what you mean!

Posted by: Tomtheman70

Really?

Posted by: Tomtheman70

Well, at least they had good music. I was listening to nirvana almost the whole time, then there was a song by the flock of seagulls. Can't remember the name, but it wasn't worth the 10 10 321 call
