WTF! Netaddress.Com now charging for email?!?

Oh man, this sucks. I just checked my Netaddress.Com email and just found out about this.

Important Announcement!!! Please Read!!!

In today's changing business environment, revenue sources are no longer adequate to support our Net@ddress free email service. The current Net@ddress free email service will be discontinued on July 31, 2001. To keep your current Net@ddress email account, subscribe for a new Net@ddress Messaging Center account today.

I've been using Netaddress for more than a year now as my main internet-based email, and most of my web administration and domain name accounts all point to this email. I thought it would be easier to use an email that I could access anywhere.

Shit ... I noticed this is a growing trend for many free web services ... ListBot just recently said they were gonna charge for their services now... Many others are following suit.

Ah well, I guess I couldn't complain since it was a free service to begin with, but it just sucks goats that it has to come to this... I am now moving all my correspondences to a Yahoo.com email - but who knows when even "they" will start charging me?

No such thing as a free Web lunch, but this is getting outta hand...

Yep. I use Yahoo! as my main email address. Yahoo! appears to be using other methods to support their site. I felt Yahoo! was the least likely to start charging fees and most likely to stick around. They do charge for larger mailboxes though.

If any large scale email service starts charging fees, I think it's most likely gonna be Hotmail. They just got through remaking their interface apparently. I'm seeing that a lot of their customers are bothered by it. I'm not sure why. They say it looks nicer. But, it's functionality was changed somehow.

Strange they gave you so little notice. Why would they piss everyone off with short notice? Do they think you're gonna stay because you must? Seems like they are trying to strong-arm everyone into signing up at least for the first month. Smells bad to me.

Yeah, my dad used this, but had to switch because he ain't paying for that! We switched to Yahoo! Mail.

Hotmail recently revamped the looks .

What they also did

Upgraded the Spam filter.

A means of income for the Hotmail folks is SELLING their clients emails to spam lists, then implementing half ass spam filters to filter out the spam lists.
Tho the filters dont work 50% of the time.

Pop up ads when you log in, and you dont get directed immediately to your inbox. you get directed to a page of advertising, with a little link to inbox in the left hand corner. I am now seriously considering getting a pay per month email since the service i have used for 2 years now Hotmail has gone to hell.

OH wait, think Laggy could give me a freak@opentechsupport.net? LOL

Did I mention 50% of spam that goes into my email accounts for about 7-10 pieces of shit everyday? The other 7-10 spam mail goes into the "junk mail". Thank god they dont count the space used for junk mail.
