Source codes, program language

Can anyone tell me what kind of source code and language used for music programs like Cubase, Pro-tools etc?

Cubase and Protools are professional hard disc recording software allowing muscians to record their songs onto the computer for editing, mastering and publishing. Song file format is .wav

If the products are commercial products that do not release their source code, then that's called reverse engineering which we don't deal with on OTS.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You can look for the source for Audacity there. It's a Linux .tar file, but depending on what you need source for, you migh be able to find what you need in the linux code and just port to Windows.

Look around on sourceforge.net for other GPL'd projects to see if you can find anything else. I believe there are quite a few (and Audacity may be one) GPL'd projects that have Windows ports, so you might be able to download an archive of the Windows code, too.

Just remember that any derivative work you do is automatically covered under the GPL, so don't take their code unless you're cool with having to give away your own.

Good luck & happy hunting.

* Followup: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about.php

Evidently, you can download a cross platform toolkit there and the code is portable between the two platforms. So you can take the Linux source and build it for Windows if you have the toolkit, which I assume is also GPLd (or they wouldn't be allowed to use it in their GPL'd project).

If that's not what you're looking for, google for it using GPL source and whatever else as search criteria.
