Well, what WOULD you do with an extra $11,000 if someone were to walk up and hand it to you?
I'm thinking new computer, pay rent for a year and...Hell I don't know, still need to think about it.
Yes, I will soon be given that amount. I'm ecstatic.
Posted by: redwench
its really not a lot. pay any outstanding bills, taxes, etc. new comp if you desperately need it. a nice used car.
Posted by: SKYHN
New comp and add the rest to the $5k I have saved up for the down payment on an RX-8.
Posted by: Cettie
I'd pay off one of the people suing me and use the rest to fight a million dollar lawsuit.

Redwench pretty much said exactly what I should do. Which I will do. As for needing a new computer..yup. Monitor and all. The monitor has recently developed this weird "thing" at the top of the screen. If you turn it off or reboot it has these warping flickering lines at the top , that eventually go away.
I still had to adjust the monitor screen area down in the menu though. What's weird is it also does it when I play a game at another resolution and then come back to desktop, it's like I've had it off or rebooted , lines and all.

Easy question
I'd buy a laser turntable. I've wanted one of these for a while.

I'd give half to my parents, and then treat my friends to a dinner at the Keg. Then I'll put $2000 on my debit card. The rest will go to my college fund.

Spend 1k to build a giant firepit for the rest of the money in stacks of one dollar bills. It has been a childhood fantasy of mine to see a ten thousand dollars to burn.
P.S. why an odd number like 11,000?

I'd pay off all my debts and still have $1000 left for my bookie in Vegas...
Posted by: jimbo
i'll start my own buisness and make even more money, that way i can retire early and just chill out.

Buy some ammo for my 2 guns.. LCD monitor.. and the rest would be a payment on my truck.. or student loans..

Pay for college!
Damn $30,000/yr is going to be expensive next year
Posted by: covenantazkiker
i'll get rid of all my credit card debts which have been pestering me with enormous interests for years! what a great relief it would be!!
Posted by: Xoncide
Id buy a new used car with 4,000. Mine is on its last leg. Then the rest would go to the UCD fund.
Posted by: Gerbilo
Pay off my current student loan, put the rest in the bank to help pay for more college...... I make a certain at my current job, if i have enough when i return to ISU i'd use my extra money that i didn't have to earn for college on a downpayment for my cobra.

Try to find some help for my wife.
We've already spent well over $5000 and still haven't gotten a diagnosis.
Posted by: N.W.A_Kid
Use $900 to pay off my credit card
put $4000 away for 2 years at Tri-C
use the rest to help pay off my Honda...I still owe over $10,000 on the damn thing

Buy a low-end Mac computer.

Prolly buy a new comp, though not neccesary, i might as well so I dont have to again for a long time. Then buy a car, something fairly nice, used. And save anything i Have left to pay for my tuition.
Posted by: compukeith
Tuition, although mines only about 3500 per semester because i stay at home.
Then a new computer - a desktop cause i've got way too much running on my laptop.
Then save for a used car.

Alternatively, spend it all on the Google IPO stock.

Oddly, my grandma just gave me $10,900. I haven't gotten the cash yet, it's in an account in my name in Ohio where she lives, but I'm paying off debts. I screwed myself two to three years ago and got so far in debt that'll only cover about half of it.
If I hadn't done that, I'd probably just leave it in the bank slowly but surely accumulating interest and not use it until I needed it. The peace of mind having that kind of cash sitting in reserve buy you is nice. You don't have to worry about getting fired, you don't have to worry about getting into a wreck, you don't have to worry about getting kicked out of your house. Whatever, it's covered.
Once I pay off some of this debt, though, the extra money I'll have every month will accumulate pretty quickly, and I'm going to treat myself to both a new PC and a new digital camera.

I currently have a little compact
Fujifilm FinePix 2650 that's alright. Not quite as slim, I think, but it fits in my pocket well enough and takes pretty nice photos. I'm looking to make photography as serious a hobby as IT is, though. I'm going to be moving up to a SLR or SLR-like digital camera.
I'm thinking about either going all the way with the Cannon digital rebel or else getting something more like a Fujifilm s5000 or s602 but keep the 2650 as a cary around camera.
Posted by: Bobaroo
I have the FinePix 2650, and it is a pretty nice camera, although my dad's Canon A20 is a little more user friendly

3mp is not for serious photography. youll need a higher resolution for that.
Posted by: BooRadley
3mp is more than enough for 8x10s. Actually 2.1 is enough. I don't plan on printing higher than 8x10, so I'm okay with 3mp. Considering that it will save me a total of about 800 bucks (I already have almost 300 megs of storage for that particular camera because it uses the same memory, while the others don't), and has other features that outdo the higher mp cameras, such as aperature override, shutter speed, drive speed, etc., I'm thinking it will do okay.
If I ever get to the point that I want to do it for a living, I will have already upgraded to a true SLR camera by then. I'd rather have lens threading and manual features at 3mp than neither at 6. I don't have a real use for anything above 3. Well, not that's worth the extra cash, not at this stage, at least.
I'd like that digital rebel, but I think if I wait a few months or up to a year, I'll be able to get twice as much for half the price.

I'd buy a job.

Mere Monopoly money does not cater to the needs of a person who wishes to witness the burning of currency.

...sure does seem like a waste to burn all that toiletpaper though. i could do with the cash too, so long as i don't have to claim it
