counterstrike HELP

MY MOM BOUGHT ME COUNTER STRIKE. THE NAME ON THE CD IS HALF-LIFE COUNTER STRIKE. DOES THIS HAVE HALF LIFE ALREADY ON IT?
AND WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO UPGRADE MY HALF LIFE AND CS

It's Counter-Strike retail. You can upgrade CS to 1.5 without Steam or to 1.6 after you install Steam. Get Steam. A lot of people still play both. So you'll need one or the other to play online.
CS Retail doesn't come with Half-Life, so you'll have to buy that seperate unless you already own it.

i dont know what kinda crack this guy is on, so ignore him, swizelstick is correct though

I've always had problems with 1.6 first they forced left hand gun models and when i changed them they didnt. I restarted the game PC and all. Secondly my cousin was always complaining about the sound in 1.6. I like 1.5 but try them both.
