Quake 3 (funny as hell)

I play Quake 3 alot. I have found an odd thing recently, I can connect to a few select servers and play for hours. Most other servers crash my computer with in 30 seconds... total hardware lock up. Is'nt that freaky? I cant figure it out.. so I play on the few servers that I dont have this problem on.. but I wish it would go away.. any ideas?
