He said comptable, so Radeon 9700 or better....
Don't mess around with "powered by nVidia" when you can get a "built-by ATI"...

I have yet to have a compatability problem with either my 9800pro at home, or my 9700pro at work. Both are very solid, very desireable cards. They are also both faster and cheaper than their nvidia counterparts.

I bet your 2D quality is higher too...

You should consider, if you want an OEM (Manufacturer Original Product)
or a BOX (Means box, thats what i heard), the oem come with with the escential, the video card, the cable (if it have) and the drivers, but the box, well, its a BOX, come with every thing (Software, additional packages, more cables, etc) but how expensive is!. The choice is yours, if i am wrong in something or i forgotten, please let me know

I heard nVidia GeForce 5950 is the best for most games. But if you think of playing half-life 2, the ATI Radeon 9800XT will be the best choice.

Ive seen benchmarks on like every higher end card. And the only game Nvidia really pwnz ATI in is Quake 3 and we all know how old that game is.
In the word's of Psd; 'Don't mess around with "powered by nVidia" when you can get a "built-by ATI"...'
He is 100% correct ATI just makes better cards at this point.

sweet spot right now is 9700pro @$200 and for 30$ more the 9800pro.
the cheaper nvidia cards save their top line have dx9 issues.
