My Mouse Wont Work

When I start up my computer, it is normal until i get to the screen where you can select a user and go to diferent desktops, when I get there the screen size is huge, and the colors are messed up, also there is no mouse pointer. I know the mouse is pluged in because the light is on. I have ben using the Tab, arrow, and enter keys to get here and it is very frustrating! If anyone knows of a way to fix this, please let me know. Thank You.

What kind of mouse are you using? and what tpye of windows xp/me etc
