Gangster Movies

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

SIGH!! I want a good gangster movie to watch. Not 'gangsta' but gangster mind! (hope nobody takes offense to this) I want a good film like Scarface or the Godfather, preferrably something contemporary. To tell the truth i'm tired of all these slick, 'bullet-timish' films. I just want something that is kind of medium-paced and has a good storyline. Its hard to explain but some-one out there shld understand what i want.

Thx

"road to perdition" starring tom hanks and paul newman?

Posted by: Gunslinger

Excellent choice.

One like the Godfather........OOHhhhh the godfather part 2

Posted by: AK47

Road to Perdition is solid.

Ditto for Goodfellas

Try giving Carlito's Way a try... and maybe Heat (with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro), although not technically a gangster film, heh...

Posted by: Null Actor

Heat is one of my favorite movies.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Also try some of the more popular ones, the Untouchables, Bugsy and Pulp Fiction if you haven't watched em

Or one of my faves, The Usual Suspects, for some contemporary pseudo gangster action

The Score (Brando, Redford & Norton) is a good one
How about Scarface?

Posted by: Canis Lupus

he already watched scarface tho

Office Space. Peter is a gangsta in that movie.

Posted by: Shezar

Since we are talking movies, has anyone seen Kill Bill Vol. 1?

Posted by: Superfly3176

Yeah Peter is a real live gangsta in the movie its funny too boot.

Kill Bill V. I is AWESOME!! I don't think I've ever seen a more violent movie in my life, but it was very entertaining. I guess when you are watching it, you have to keep in mind that its a Tarantino flick.

Posted by: Shezar

Yeah, the usual forward-backward editing. It's entertaining. But I can't help but think that it's somewhat like an anime flick.
Can't wait for the Vol. 2 to come out!

Black Mamba!

sarcasm eh! Anyway thx for ur replies. Kill Bill is great but way too violent. I'd rather sith thru all 3 Dusk Till Dawn films again than watch that.

Ive seen Road to Perdition and i absolutely love that film, its great. hx all

"say hello to my little freind" I couldnt help it

as shezar said, the score is good... and it's the same movie as heist... basically,

Both Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are good ganster movies. Goodfellas is great too, and if you want to spend a little more time, pick up Season 1 of the Sopranos. A lot of the cast from Goodfellas made their way onto that show.

hmm, not your typical gangster movie, but Suicide Kings is a good one. Dark comedy, but does involve the mob AND it has Mr. Christopher Walken! how can you go wrong?
