AGP and ASUS A7V333

First let me say that I'm glad to 'meet' everyone. As my subject line implies, I'm working with an AGP card, specifically a Radeon 9600 SE and a motherboard, again, specifically, an ASUS A7V333 non raid (in case someone may ask). I've tried everything, from simply following the instructions that came with the AGP card and installing both the old and new card (at which time, the other monitor gave me this message : If you can read this message, Windows has successfully initiated this display adapter. To use this adapter as part of your windows desktop, open the display option in the Ctrl panel and adjust the settings on the settings tab. Then, Windows installs and the computer works perfectly on the monitor using the old ATI 128, while the monitor hooked up to the 9600SE keeps the message up). I've tried everything to get these two components to marry, but I just can't manage it. Yes, I've tried that....and I've tried that also. Nope, that didn't work either, but it did come close. May I ask if there's anyone out there who's had any issues with these two boards? And if so, did you ever resolve the issue and if so, would you mind sharing the solution? And if you've never even seen these two cards, maybe you have an answer you could share. My apologies for the length of my first post to your board, but I am glad to have joined. I tried to be as thorough as I could be. I beg you once again, what can I do? If any other information is required of me, you need only ask.
Your humble servant,
Doug

it helps if you put your op sys. in your post
assuming it is xp
go into the device manager and delete the video card
turn off the computer
change the cards over
restart the computer pressing f8
from the boot options menu choose vga mode
when windows finishes booting install the drivers
then go into properties and set the card up
