Mouse jerks when HDD busy

Im having some problems with my mouse after updating XP , it seems that sometimes when the hdd leds shows activity my mouse woud pause for a few miliseconds and that resume at some position elsewhere but its gets really annoying and it happens on only some windows that which i open and on the desktop most of the time.
im using an MSI 6163 board with 256 RAM running on 500 mhz with 4 HDDS attached. Nvidia tnt2 pro with SB live. XP running on NTFS.
Anyone got suggestions?
Anyway iv tuned up xp to run on best performance with the least startup and background services.
