Multiple hard drive IDE Questions

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Building my first computer and I just bought a DFI AZ30-TL mainboard and it only has 2 IDE slots on it, I know hard drives take IDE slots, and I'm 99% sure that CD drives do also, Now I planned on using two hard drives and a cd drive, but my plans seem shot.. But I noticed on the ribbons that there is a hookup in the middle for another device, I was wondering If I could use that to hookup another device or what...just jetting out of the office so this question might seem jumbled, sorry.
Thanks for your time.

each ide port can take 2 devices on a cable for a total of 4. you will need an ide controller pci card if you wish to use more ide devices.

So if I want to use the three devices I will have to get the controller card?...how much do those go for?

No, you don't need a controller card. redwench was saying with your current setup you can connect four IDE devices. You can put the hard drives on one cable and the CDROM on the other. Just be sure that when you hook up the harddrives you configure the master/slave jumpers (the master drive connects to the end of the cable, the slave connects to the middle of the cable).
