audigy 2 and network

I just picked up an audigy 2 sound card and after putting it in couldnt get online. My computer is connected to a switch to a router to my cable modem. I get connection (but not activity) lights all the way through but can only ping localhost. It looks like the culprit is dhcp. I'm set to use it but instead of the private ip i should be getting, i get something else. Also my subnet gets set to 255.255.0.0. I've been through uninstalling, reinstalling, gettting latest drivers, tried a different nic, checked I/O and IRQ conflicts. If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful. ~Tarn

What OS are you using? Try running the network setup wizard.

you say you just put in an audigy? i wonder if its an irq conflict... i dont know that much about xp and whether or not it handles this type of stuff, but ya. head into the device manager and see if theres a little "!" by your network card, if there is, that means the device isnt working properly. if thats the case, see if its an irq thing.

No conflicts whatsoever. IRQ's are good.
