Cant use ftp w/ my router

hey, I cant host games or ftp on 2 of my computers at the same time. If I want to use one or the other I have to set up port forwarding on the router and use a static ip on the computer I want ftp with. If i give the other computer a static ip neither will work( The Ips are the same except the last number. ie .3 and .4 . The only problem is that my computers dont comunicate with eachother (cant map network drives or play network games.). Can anyone help me?
also there is a mac on the router but it doesnt need to network with the other computers, it just needs the internet.
