A two step bath.
Step one: use warm water and wet the entire dog for 2 or 3 miniutes. Make sure the dog is very wet and allow the fur to absorb the water. Really soak the dog well. Then wash the dog with Dawn dishwashing liquid. The standard version of Dawn nothing else (The blue version) Wash the dog twice and be sure to massage down to the skin. Allow the soap to set for 2 to 3 miniutes prior to rinsing
Step two. After rinsing the dog very well, Combine one 12oz bottle of white vinager with one gallon of cold water. Pour this over the dog and soak the dog well. make sure to coat the entire dog. (Avoid the eyes)
Let this set for 5 miniutes then rinse with cold water.
This will deeply clean the hair and skin and seal the hair and skin afterward. Works very well for most dogs.
But remember to really soak the dog well. If you don't your just surface cleaning. You need to soften the hair and skin to be effective.
