i agree with Tecil! i like the interface a lot...nice and clean! ei can i ask u something bob, i lack the knowledge when it comes to web development....what are the things you should learn in order to design and develop your own web/websites....the only thing i know is that you should know HTML and how to use image editors such as photoshop or PSP....is there any way that i could learn it the easy way.....

Posted by: DemonBob

Well the easyest way I learned was I read a few tutorials online at placesw like webmonkey, and by looking at others sites like this one's source code.

As for photoshop or paint shop pro, thier are thousands of user created tutorials out there that explain everything from manipulateing text. Don't be discouraged if your images or sites do not look like some of the top sites like this one. It took me almost 2 years to really get good at web design.

Another thing to learn after you html down pat, is PHP scripting and mySQL, which both have thousands of tutorials on the web for them. Not to mention the yellow "for dummies" book are really good resources for beginners, which is the main way I got the jist of everything.

Oh, and I had tons of help from the admin "laggy" here. He knows his stuff at and my early stages gave me really help tips/hints/ and critisizem.

I like the design - it's really easy on the eyes.

I learned most of what I know from trial and error. I also learned a lot from Google. If there was ever something I didn't know, I'd just Google it.

Also, I find http://www.w3.org a GREAT source of help with HTML. It has helped me countless times. They're the people who create the standards for HTML (in case you didn't know).

what is PHP and mySQL? sori i dont really know...im a newbie when it comes to web development....i always wanted to make my own site, for starters what should i learn first in web design?? then what should i learn second....and so on and so forth; for me to know if im on the right track....im very eager to learn so i dont care if it would take 2-5 years, i just wanna learn.....im planning to buy the yellow book for dummies so i could get started.........

Well, start learning HTML first, get to know it, it will be your friend and eneny in the furture, once you get the jest of HTML, start learning an image program like Adobe Photoshop, which is what I recommend, or paint shop pro.

When tryng to learn how to webdesign, try to stay away from programins like frontpage and dreamweaver which are point and click web design programs. They never really tech you anything because they do all the coding. A good HTML editer I would recommend is AceHTML Pro

After you get the jest of images and HTML I recommend tinkering with some php scripts like phpbb, a free online forums software, and getting a feel for how they work.

All of these books I have read are very good for novices.

Got ssi from my forums on the main page. I know the links dont work yet... waiting to modify my forum templete before I do that. Do the table header images look ok for now? or do I need to touch them up?

Also went head and moved it as the main index on the server:

ok, im starting now with the html tags on the webmonkey site...., i think this would take a while.....do i really a need a webspace to upload the HTML file that i did for my own website in order view the results or what my new HTML file would look like on the net?? or can i view what would my site look like, offline??

how come when i downlod AceHTML Pro...it only take a few minutes, its almost 5MB and when i install it....the setup stops...i tried downloading it for about 6x but the same thing happens...i think that the downloading process was incomplete......is it a free download or i need to pay for it?? i always choose the Download option not the Order option...

Posted by: woogy

much more impressive! i like the blue-green-black theme..

Posted by: DemonBob

Well, its not free, but I think they got a free version on there somewhere. But I recommend if you scratch up the money purchase the pro because it is well worth it.

Editing HTML: you do not need webspace to view html, you open your browser and go file -> open and point it to the right file. Also long as the file has the extension .html .htm or .shtml it should show up in the broswer. A good way to tell if it will show before you up if is it has the IE icon.

Oh and if you need anymore help my e-mail is demonbob@systemoverload.net or PM me :-p that way I won't miss your post. I'll also talk to laggy about getting my begginner HTML tutoral back online at this site. I know he has it somewhere backedup. (it was lost in one of the server moves). If he really has lost it, i'll write another in a week or two.

Posted by: woogy

ok got that opening thing cleared up, iyl just PM or email you if ever i hav other questions.....thats good! iyl wait for the tutorials in this site!

Acehtml has a free version that you can try before you buy. Try here . I've always had good luck with this site on downloads.
