Explorer and IE shutdown
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just recently, I have been experiencing a problem with windows XP Pro. Whenever I run Internet Explorer, the web browser only stays up for about 5 seconds (or thereabouts), then shuts down.
Also, Explorer (my computer) runs but generates a dialog "Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." There is only a close botton, no botton for more details, or anything asking me to send an error report. If I move the dialog out of the way, I can keep working, but if I click on close, Explorer shuts down.
Can anyone help me.
Thanx

rebooting generally fixes that kind of thing. if it doesnt, you might want to check that you have enough ram free. also run a thorough scandisk with error correction and defrag. next up is virus and spyware scans. once your hard drive is squeaky clean, you should run the repair off the xp disk if you still have a problem.
