I am running Windows 98 SE right now and was wanting to get XP.My question is about OEM Versions.I would like to know if anyone can tell me if the OEM versions are ok to buy,if there is anything special I need to look for and these are legaly ok to use.I have seen several of these for sale on Ebay and the ones I was looking at say they are unregistered and come with an XP CD,Certificate of Authenticity(Key Code),a starters manual and Service Pack 1A.They also say they will ship with an untested piece of hardware.I believe I can get one of these for under $100.Thanks.............Troubled....

OEM XP is a great buy, I've purchased a few liscense and haven't had any problems. Save yourself some money, go with OEM

yes, they are legal, and are the same software as the retail version. watch out for places like ebay, some sellers will lie through their teeth. better to buy it from a large retailer with some ide cables or something.

if you insist on buying on eBay rather than a normal retailer, make sure there is a CD and COA, and that both are still sealed. you will still be at risk, naturally.

A risk, but a risk worth taking. Just check the buyers ratings before you buy off EBAY

eh, you can get xp pro for 135 or so with free shipping from zipzoomfly and newegg. home version is around 90. cheapest for pro i saw on ebay was $129 (from a reliable seller), shipping not included. worth the risk for 4 bucks?
