integrated Media Plyer in MSN Explorer not working

I would like to thank anyone in advance who can help me with this very frustrating problem that I can not find a solution to. I installed You Don't Know Jack "The Ride" last night on my computer and after playing it for a few hours with my friends decided to surf the net. The problem is that no matter what I play, mp3 or video, the integrated Media player does not play. It worked fine before the installation of You Don't Know Jack so I assumed my problem was related to this. So I uninstalled it (Jack) and the integrated Media Player still does not work. I then tried Roxio's GoBack and that did not fix it. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Media Player and that did not work. I surfed the net for HOURS looking for the answer. I was at Microsoft's website reading their FAQ for the better part of the night with no answer. I should mention that The Windows Media Player that is not integrated into the MSN browser works just fine. HOWEVER files must be saved to the hard drive first in order for it to work. Used to be that when I used Internet Explorer I would click on a mp3 or video link and the Media Player would pop-up immediately and play the selected file. Then I discovered that the MSN Browser had it's own Media Player Integrated into it which made surfing the net much easier for me since only a thumbnail image would open if a video was being played and only the music would play without a seperate window opening if it was an mp3. So I guess in a way the stand alone player is not working properly since it is not poping up IMMEDIATELY when I use Internet explorer. I think somehow that another player has somehow changed the defaults so that I am having this problem but I can't figure out which one it might be. I also tried restoring the dafaults in Windows Media Player and obviously this did not work either hence my rambling request for help. Thanks again Gents (and ladies) for any help you guys can give me. Mhibbing

I found the answer to my own question and I'm posting it here in case any other people here have this same problem. When browsing the net with a browser with an integrated media player a "link" must be established between the player and the media or audio "link" on the net. This is the automatic "default" when installing a new player so somehow I broke this "link" during the installation of my You Don't Know Jack Game. After searching for what seemed an eternity I was suprized that the solution was as simple as it was. If the problem should befall you as it did me all you need to do is open the Windows Media Player and click on the tools tab. Then go to the options choice and click on it. In the box that now opens you should be in the "player" part. If you are not for some reason click on the "player" tab. Now put a check in the "connect to internet (overrides other commands)" box and click apply. Your problem is now gone. This works with the Media Player 9 series operating on Windows XP so I am not sure if this will work with different operating systems and or Different version Windows Media Players. This question either stumped the group or no one likes me. I hope It's the latter since I am suffering from low self esteem as it is. Catch ya all later, Hibb

Good job on solving your own problem. I know that I personally enjoy it when I do that.
