Kazaa shared folder mishap

I'm unsure whether you can answer this question, but I'll post it just in case.
I've quit using Kazaa, but I cannot get rid of my shared folder. One of the .dat files was renamed during a wrestle-fest with my cat for the keyboard, and I have since been unable to change it back. This caused numerous problems during usage of Kazaa, mainly a frozen screen for a number of minutes.
Even when Kazaa is uninstalled, the file won't remove, no matter what.
Is there a simple way to fix this that I've missed?

Boot into safe mode and try to delete it there.
