Hotmail Tech Gaff

Dear Folks:
On my hotmail inbox page, on the far left of the line that says "From" and "Subject," there's a little envelope with a "!". Unwisely, I clicked upon the thing to see what it does. Well, it completely scrambled my mail. Now I have no idea where my new mail is going, and my #1 page is showing e-mails from last month and two years ago all together in what appears to be a random order (oxymoron).
Anyone know how I get my mail to appear in the inbox again in the order I am receiving it?
Any advice appreciated, thanks!
