AIM problems

I haven't been able to use AIM for days. I have a verizon connection, and everytime I try to get on it says that AIM can't be reached. I've tried everything and nothing is working. I don't have any viruses on my computer, and when I called AOL they were no help. Does anyone know what to do? I'm desperate! PLEASE HELP!!!!!
