Battlefield 1942 Patch 1.6 Blackscreen

I installed the Battlefield 1942 patch 1.6 and now whenever i try to boot it up, it gives me a black screen.... and nothing else. It wont even respond to Cntrl Alt Delete. It has worked fine BEFORE the patch. I did what it said to do for a related issue, going to Video Default and changing the value of one of the strings to 1 or 0. Didnt work. Anyone able to help?
