So how exactly do you get T.V. [ Cable Television ] working on your computer? I know you have to have the Video option or whatever it's called. My graphics card has it. [ GeForce FX5700 Ultra. ]

And what exactly is a T.V. tuner thingy?

I was just thinking about doing this. Just wondering what'd it be like.

Thanks in advance.

umm im no expert, hell im barely more then a newb BUT your graphics card has to have tv in(and will prolly have out) in the back... where you can hook up your cable tv cable

Posted by: b00tz3xor

you have to have the compadible software for it

Posted by: Ack1027

Yeah, my video card does have T.V. in/out.

Software huh? Never heard about needing software.

Posted by: Ack1027

Anyone use T.V. right now for their computer?

Posted by: slugo3

I think you need a card with a tv tuner lika a hauppage http://www.hauppauge.com/

edit: oops I see your card does have a tuner, like b00tz3xor you need some software if the card didnt come with it.

I believe nVidia provides software for this. Check out their Personal Cinema kit. XP/2000, 98/ME

So....what exactly do you DO after you have all the software and such?

ummm run it and look for a button that says "watch tv"? come on man its tech support not holdyourhand.net. If you run the software and get some errors then come back and post but unless your paying me (and none of us here get paid) then RTFM

Lolz, you misunderstood. I would think you could presume that I was more intelligent than that -_______-

My question was, do you have to hook up any cables or other hardware to your computer? I can't find any sockets on my Video card that seem to fit a cable line.

Sorry for not being specific Slugo3

Thanks for any help in advance.

Btw RTFM is?

Are you sure that your card has a tv in? I searched a lot of Geforce 5700 Ultra cards and all of them only had S-video, DVI-I and VGA out ports. Am I missing something?

Posted by: Ack1027

It's an Nvidia GeForce FX5700 Ultra And yes I it does have VGA and DVI, but Idk what S-Video looks like. But I distinctly remember reading on my box the words ' TV In/out ' but now I don't have the box. Anyway, I only have three outputs and the last one must be S-VIDEO. What is that for anyway?

Thanks.

Posted by: trekpsycho

S-video is to hook to a TV. It's the same output that a DVD player has.
Is this your card? If so, then it does not have a TV in port only S-video out.

Posted by: Ack1027

Yes, that is my exact card, does this mean it's impossible to watch T.V. on my computer?

Posted by: trekpsycho

Yes. Evidently the only thing that you could do is to hook it to your tv.

Umm, im a newb meself. I have a geforce 4mx and i alway thought that since i only have teh S-video, all i cld do was project whatever i was doing on the TV, i tried doing that but the TV resolution is so poor i cld barely see what i was doing.
