Moderators

I just have 2 questions;

1) How much does one have to pay to be a moderator here?

2) Umm what offenses merit being banned from OTS ( "shudders at the thought") and what keeps the same person from just getting another E-mail account and rejoining?

Just wondering

We talking about money or respect? Anyway, no, moderators don't apply for the job - I choose them...

The ways on how to piss off people are too many to mention. The ways on how to get banned should be self explanatory - if they piss off the mods bad enough, they go...

As for keeping people from smurfing, fortunately we have banned people so stupid that they act the same even after registering a new account, so they call attention to themselves and get banned again. IP ban also works if they're some stuck-up momma's boy with a broadband connection. Otherwise, everything's fine and dandy...

This is about the only forum where I haven't been banned in some way at least once

Keep up the good work

In before the ban.

I don't see openings for the "moderator" position there anywhere... are you sure?

I wlda thought Staff Member automatically meant Moderator. it seems i have touched on a subject that has been at the back of some ppls minds. We all have ambitions lol

Staff members don't have the power to delete threads/posts/users.

being a moderator is a hastle. everyone comes to you with their problems. you have to deal with wierdos lamos and sickos. and if you do your job correct. no one knows you have done your job.

I always thought that the way these Forums work was that someone posted and the Moderators just read and answered the post. I have much to learn

Posted by: DemonBob

Well in an aspect that is true, a moderator is usally chosen by his knowlegde of the subject the forum he post on, so thier for they do answer alot of the post. But a moderators job does not stop thier, they have the task of warning members who are offensive to other memeber, they have to manage the post, as in if it was posted in the wrong forum, move it to the right forum. If it is flameing someone they usally delete it. They have to keep the peace, and also keep all the assholes inline.

They handle everything so the admin can worry more about the layout and keeping the other server features running smooth. A good moderator is hard to choose, you never want to put up an application for it. A moderators is choosen by is knowledge, his abilty to keep a level head in any situation, and his/her ability to use tactfullness in resovleing all member related problems, with out upsetting other members here.
