Windows messenger

Hi,

I have a lot of trouble to stop windows messenger running. As a consequence, when I am disconnected from msn messenger, windows messenger is taking the relay on my pc at home, and I have a lot of problems while connecting to msn from another location.

What I did is:
- stop windows messenger through the add/remove windows components (I have XP as OS)
- uncheck the function, in windows messenger itself, "allow the application to run in background).
Even so, I still have problems! What is perturbing me, is that I don't see the application running in the task manager.

I bought the PC with XP already installed, so do not have the CD to reformat the hardisk, and remove all the s... preinstalled on it...

Thanks for your help
