World of Warcraft Beta Test is Now Live! - DAnthony on 03/18/04
The first round of emails has gone out, and the North American and Korean World of Warcraft beta tests have officially begun. If you didn’t receive an email, don’t worry; we’ll be adding more testers at the start of each upcoming beta-test phase. Keep an eye on www.blizzard.com for news on when we’ll be opening up the additional phases, because that will be your clue to check the email account you used to sign up. Also, anyone interested in tracking the progress of the beta test can visit our World of WarCraft Community Site , which will contain regular updates as well as general information about the game.
I haven't received my beta email, hopefully I get in. If you're reading this Blizzard employee, show me some love!

In related news, there is a very good write up of the World of WarCraft Alpha. The NDA has now been lifted and many good journals are surfacing on the web. This review is about 20 pages long.

One of my good friends just snagged a job with Blizzard's cinematics division.
I figure I'll be getting a beta as soon as he gets moved out there.

I didn't get into the beta either I wonder how random it is and I wonder how many are dialup users. Its not a necessity to have broadband for it, but I think it sways in the favor of broadband users.
The only betas I've gotten into are public/open betas. Granted I have only signed up for a hand full of betas, but its a disappointment to see that all the broadband users get to beta test more so than modem users. But that may just be a misconception that I hold, seeing as most of the populous still uses dialup.

you don't just register and you get in, they have to pick you, and it just depends on how random the picking is, you may get in and you may not

Umm... Next time when you do something like this, try reading all the text that's on your screen while you're registering. Especially the bold lines, like this one:

The registration period is 3 weeks, I'd think they select their beta testers afterwards.

You also have Florida as location in your profile here. Last time I checked, Florida wasn't a part of Europe. The signups now are for the European beta test.
