Need Info System Update Services (SUS)

Anyone running it? What is your opinion on it? I'm thinking about implenting this in the school. Any suggestions or tips? Can this be combined with Active Directory?

The latest version works pretty well. And it should be used with Active Directory to reduce your workload.

Again, you need to dedicate one server for only this purpose. Don't use the server for anything else.

Thanks, plan on implenting this into the network next week, already got it setup on a test workstation running 2000 server. Just to try it out.

This school is un-organized totally, so when I got hired I told the network admin that if he let me, and gave me the time to do it, i'll make network and computers runnn way better. SUS is only one of the things, i've had planned. Other idea that im working on right now, is implenting a Image server with a main image for all the IS systems. <-- Any tips on that would be helpful, going with ghost since they own the corprate edt.

Cant complain to much though, thier building a whole nother building for the IS department and the NA has been consulting with the contractor the last 2 weeks and left me to do all his work...lol

Oh, will I have to download an add-on for the AD if I intend on doing it that route...

No. You'll need to add the administrative template for MSUS to the GPO for the machines. Then configure it so all machines look to your server versus Microsoft.

Thanx,
