im planning to upgrade my geforce2 mx400 64mb video card anyways im lukin for a good budget card im thinkin Sparkle FX5200 128ddr tv-out 8x, or an His Excalibur ATI 9200SE 128ddr with tv-dvi. what confuses me is that there are plenty of manufacturers that either has an nvidia or an ati chip, do they actually have any advantages against each other? anyway can anyone suggest a good video card for under $60. tnx!

You're basically not going to get a much better vid card for only 60 bucks. However, if that's the absolute MAX you have to spend, I'd suggest the 128mb Asus card found here

Or for 63 http://www.buycyberpc.com/ra9612ddragt.html

that asus card looks good problem is i cant find any of that here. anyways ill luk for somthing similar.

get superfly's card definately. good deal

are you shopping at a store?
if so
dont go for a dx9 card in that price range. they sacrifice already mediocre framerates (especially during fsaa and aniso) for unbelievaly subpar dx9 performance. there arent many dx9 required games out yet, so only buy a dx9 card when you absolutely need it or want fsaa or aniso (which the low end dx9 cards wont give you well).
geforce4 mx 440 then

...In my opinion you shouldn't go buy a card from a retail store, definately get one online, you will get 10-15% better performance for much cheaper.

ok guys you see im living thousand of miles from you im here in manila so we dont have that many manufacturers here. the most comon cards here are leadtek, inno3d, sparkle, xpertvision these cards are using nvidia, while we have gainward, ecs, and his excalibur for ati. anyway thanks for your advice im already lukin at an His Excalibur ATI 9200SE 128ddr with tv-dvi. what you think? hope its better than an nvidia fx5200.

the 9600 128mb is now running around 60-65 bucks. id probably head there.
Posted by: rambol
ive seen some 9600 in that price range but ive heard news that ati has problems in thier drivers. is there any truth to that?
Posted by: redwench
of course. both ati and nvidia always have problems in their drivers, thats why they update them
if you mean they have an abnormal amount of problems, i havent heard anything about that for several years now. youre hearing very old news, or its something very recent.

ok. this card upgarding is defintely giving me a headache! so many choices to little moolah ill give you a few vidcards you choose what you think is better and hopefully i could choose one so you wont have to put up with me. (joke)! 1) His Excalibur ATI 9200SE 128ddr with tv-dvi 2) His Excalibur ATI 9200 128ddr with tv-dvi 3) Inno3D FX5200 128ddr 8x 128bit with tv-out 4) Inno3D FX5200 128ddr 8x 64bit with tv-out 5) Inno3D GF4 MX440SE 128ddr with tv-out.

I'd say choice 2, the ATi 9200. I say this because I have owned a GeForce4 MX440SE, and currently own a GeForce FX5200, and they are both very slow cards, neither will run BF1942 with any sort of speed whatsoever. So I can't imagine the 9200 being any slower.
Plus, I hear good things about His video cards.
Posted by: DemonBob
Ummm, i ogt a Geforce FX52000 and I can run bf1942 with 400 bots on each side with out slowdowsn......although im running 2 gigs of RDram.....
Posted by: redwench
2, although the 9600 isnt running much more expensive right now.
Posted by: Superfly3176
2 but i still say the spend the extra 15 dollars and get a 9600.

i upgraded my geforce 64 meg pci with a pny geforece 5200 128 meg agp 8x. i got it on sale at circuit city for $100, and was delighted to see it comes with a lifetime warranty. good card, too.
Posted by: Bix VT
hmm...mine was a pny as well, yet the performance lacks. Must be because that computer is only running an athlon 2200+ and 512 pc2100.

9600 nonpro non se >>> any 5200fx
Posted by: Bix VT
