Annoying problem with .cue files

Hi, pls could you explain why on earth certain .cue files are opening as windows media player files? Its really annoying because i want to get them to open as Unknown Applications. 
PS- pls explain in layman's terms, i get bogged down with all the technical stuff.

.CUE files are usually associated with with BIN, Microsoft Cue Card or CD images. Are you trying to open them? You need to change the description in the registered file types section of windows Explorer.
Just get into explorer, open the "Tools" tab, then click "Options". You should get a dialog box with three tabs, click "File Types". Scroll down until you see .CUE and click edit. Associate it how you need to. Microsoft technical page for this is:

BTW now i knwo how little i know of XP. Where on Earth is Windows Explorer?

well, if you open "My Computer" and follow the directions I posted, you should be ok. What are you doing when you get an error message?

what am i doing? Well umm, i ma not too sure i understand what you mean. Are you asking me what kind of program i am running? In any case i did use your tips, thx a lot for that. it helped solve my problem.
